The road will be officially closed to allow for a range of fun activities for the public, including art experiences, healthy active play, information stalls, and the GMPTE Exhibus.

Come and enjoy the unique Green Circus & Roadshow, the UK’s only solar-powered circus. Great entertainment with an environmental message. Also includes circus skills workshops, woodland crafts demonstrations, Whale and Dolphin road show, and renewable energy exhibits. Running alongside will be an urban picnic, ‘green entertainers’, unusual electric and solar-powered vehicles, a Fairtrade and farmers market, health activities and info on sustainable travel alongside the GMPTE Exhibus. Plus there are plenty of activities for all the family to take part in. It’s all free.

Stockport

Every fancied cycling round the Velodrome, then come along and have a go on the virtual cycle known as ‘cyber bike’, and see how you fare against other cyclists. There will also be a wide range of mobility cycles to try out – including tandems and tricycles. If you have a point of view about Stockport and sustainability then have your say in the interactive ‘Stockpod’. A range of information staff will also be providing advice and support on a number of themes: sustainable travel, regeneration, health care and recycling.

Street Stall with information and advice about sustainable travel, health and the environment. Council officers will be on hand to help show you how to get around without relying on the car. Local school children will be showing off their skipping skills and a cycle training routine to show that there are more to streets than just cars. Special bicycle display by a local cycling club “Wigan Wheelers” with top-notch racing bikes and unusual cycles.

Bury has a full week of activities planned from 16th – 22nd September and as part of this a road closure will facilitate the GMPTE Exhibus in the town centre on Wednesday 21st September. Sustainable travel promotional information will be available.
