Thursday, 29 March 2007Proposed improvements at Old Trafford Metrolink stop
GMPTE is investing more than £100 million on improvements to the existing Metrolink network over the next few years, including replacing worn-out track, new ticket machines, stop upgrades and the introduction of eight new trams during 2009.
As part of this work we will be upgrading the Old Trafford Metrolink stop during the summer when the stop is closed for the track replacement works. The improvements include better security, CCTV, lighting and access for disabled people and are the first step in a staged plan to develop and upgrade the stop.
It is necessary to cut down trees on the land next to Elsinore Road, behind the Altrincham bound platform, in advance of the improvement work. This work will start from Monday 2 April and is planned to last no more than three days.
The work will take place during normal working hours and the Old Trafford stop will remain in use.
