Friday, 01 February 2008Free shuttle bus service for Droylsden
A free shuttle bus service will start running in Droylsden on Monday (4 February) to help passengers who are affected by the closure of Sunnyside Road for sewer works.
Bus services 168, 169, 230, 231, 232, 233, 234 and 235, along with some school buses, are being diverted as Sunnyside Road closes between Shrewsbury Road and Chappell Road for five months
GMPTE has arranged for a free 'hail-and-ride' shuttle bus to run along Greenside Lane, Springfield Road, Cypress Road, Gloucester Road, Hampshire Road, Cypress Road and Sunnyside Road.
The Sunnyside Road shuttle service, which is being funded by United Utilities, will run every 15 minutes from Sunnyside Road between 7.30am and 10.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 8.30am to 10.30pm on Sundays.
The diverted bus services will travel via Moorside Street, Medlock Street, Chappell Road and Greenside Lane, with some turning at the Clock House circle and rejoining Greenside Lane, before continuing with their normal routes.
Information has been posted at the six affected bus stops.
Bus users can check their services before travelling at www.gmpte.com or by calling Traveline on 0871 200 22 33 (calls from landlines cost 10p per minute, mobile and landline networks may charge additional tariff costs). Lines are open from 7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and from 8am to 8pm at weekends.
